What is a “palapa”?
A palapa is simply the Spanish word for a shaded, open area using palm leaves as a roof, similar to a “tiki
hut.” The Aztecs and Mayans originally used this word to describe their houses. Palapas are popular in southern
Mexico, Central America, and are well-known among most tropical countries, beaches, and resorts around the
world. They provide excellent shade and are a fresh retreat from intense heat. The price for each type of palapa
varies, depending on square footage of the structure and any specific customizations made. To get a better idea
and discuss different options, please contact us by phone at 940-594-8211, or by emailing

What materials are used to make a palapa?
At North Texas Palapas, we use the finest materials: all natural red cedar wood, authentic palm leaves or
synthetic palms, and rope for a rustic finish. Synthetic palms are more durable over the elements and are
guaranteed to last 20+ years. Natural palm leaves will last 6 years before needing to be replaced, and the
sturdy cedar frame in our palapas has a 10 year warranty.
How much does one cost?
The price for each type of palapa varies, depending on square footage of the structure and any specific
customizations made. To get a better idea and discuss different options, please contact us by phone at

with financing.
How many days does it take to make a palapa?
This will again depend on how big the job is. If it’s a relatively simple palapa, then usually one to two full
days from start to finish. When a customer pays their first half as a down-payment, the materials will be
ordered and usually takes two to three weeks to come in. The cedar wood will have to be cut and prepared to
specific measurements before being ready to construct on site. Another factor is how many jobs we have scheduled
at that time.
How far does North Texas Palapas travel for a job?
We will travel through Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana. If you do not live in one of these
states but are still interested, we can discuss further at (940) 594-8211 or by email to
northtexaspalapas@gmail.com.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We currently accept cash, checks, money orders and various electronic payment apps. Financing payment options
are available and discussed in a written contract.
